Electrical probe measurement of laser induced aluminum plasma under atmospheric pressure
Abstract
The electrical probe method was used to measure the potentials of a plasma plume, created by a pulsed 1064 nm Nd:YAG laser focused on an aluminum target in air, at different distances from the plume. A strong negative potential signal was observed due to the dipole configuration of charges in the plasma. The maximum potential measured due to the ions was 41.1 mV. The measured potential was observed to decrease as the distance from the plume was increased.
