An inspection of the dominant learning strategies used by introductory physics students in UPLB
Abstract
The dominantly learning strategies used by Fundamental Physics students in UPLB were identified for the 1st Semester AY 2007–2008. The course offered is a pilot-testing of large classes in UPLB. This study is useful in profiling students' learning strategies for instructional purposes as well as guidance on studies performed outside the classroom. Students were asked to write an essay on how they study concepts in Physics. The students' answers were classified based on their specific learning strategies. Based from percentage calculations of the different categories, most of students learn by imagining situations, solving problems, and relating to experience in everyday life or a combination of the three mentioned learning strategies.
