Molecular theory of turbulence: Swimming against a scientific and engineering mainstream
Abstract
The molecular theory of turbulence will be quickly reviewed, as opposed to the continuum model. Emphasis will be made on several predictions of the theory, most of which have now been confirmed. Objections and criticisms from the scientific and engineering establishment will be enumerated and explained. The role of education engineering will be discussed and how the theory will be applied to engineering problems. A historical theme will be developed along the lines of new paradigms in science.
