Odd magnetic susceptibilities in bulk samples of YBCO and Bi-2223
Abstract
A method of discerning intergranular from intragranular contributions to harmonic susceptibilities has recently been developed using YBCO. This method can explain the variation in features found in the harmonic susceptibility plots of χ vs T. In a Bi-2223 sample, it has been observed that the same behavior of the intergranular harmonic features hold – the shifting in position (with temperature) that mimics the wellknown behavior of the intergranular loss peak at fundamental frequency. We have found very similar susceptibility features between the YBCO and the Bi-2223 samples, and through our method of discerning features we have concluded that the general shape of harmonics for both samples display remarkable likeness.
