Influence of CCD pixel size on sampling of volume speckle field for phase retrieval
Abstract
The influences of charge-coupled device (CCD) camera sampling on digital hologram recording and reconstruction are reviewed. The hologram sampling which is a convolution process incorporates the effects of the parameters for the camera pixel size and the pixel fill factor. In this study, a similar approach is followed in the analysis of the phase retrieval method based on speckle patterns. The principles of the phase retrieval method are discussed. The effects of pixel size on the quality of reconstruction are examined numerically. Cameras with pixels of larger widths compared to the average speckle size lead to undersampling of the speckle patterns and, in turn, results in poor-quality reconstructions.
