Abstract

The use of a telemedicine system in an archipelagic country like the Philippines provides patients in remote and rural areas to have better qualities of rehabilitation and treatment. A GSM and GPRS based telemonitoring system is presented in this paper. The system uses ECG and temperature sensors connected to a GSM module. Sensor signals are sent by the GSM module to a mobile phone where data may be observed. The GPRS based system allows real-time remote monitoring of temperature and ECG readings on a mobile phone, while the GSM based system may either perform remote sensor querying or signal threshold alert functions.
