Abstract

The "Palumba-anay" (Ilonggo term for "race") is an off-shoot of the "Physiklaban," the UPLB Physics Division's sponsored activity for IYOP 2005.
Participating teams must perform different tasks composed mainly of physics challenges (breaking blocks, walking on charcoal) intertwined with normal day-to-day activities (buying materials) as they move from one station to another. Designated stations will be spread all throughout the Central Philippine University campus.
The "Palumba-anay" aims to test participants' grasp of physics concepts and how these concepts may be applied in performing challenges. It will also provide a fun and enjoyable way of learning and bonding for the group. At the end of the race, the participants will learn not only about physics but also find a new way of enjoying the learning process, while creating new relationships and fostering teamwork.
