Polyaniline-modified pH electrodes
Abstract
Polyaniline-modified pencil pH electrodes were produced with the use of an ordinary pencil lead. Polyaniline was coated on the pencil lead surface through the electrochemical method polymerization. The potential relationship of the electrode with pH was considered using buffers of different pH values (acidic, neutral and basic). The potential measurements obtained were due to the surface charge density brought by the protonation and deprotonation in the acidic and basic mediums, respectively. Potential curves were then obtained. The polyaniline-modified pencil pH electrode offers the advantage of durability and lower cost compared to that of commercially available pH electrode.
