Characteristics of a novel holographic light source: Hydrogen Raman shifter using an elliptically-polarized pump
Abstract
The properties of a holographic light source and the principles of stimulated Raman scattering (SRS) in H2 are discussed. For the first time, the H2 Raman shifter with an elliptically-polarized pump is utlized as a holographic light source. The outputs of the H2 Raman shifter are polarized, highly coherent, multiwavelength, and with sufficient intensities ideal for holographic applications. Thirty-five emission wavelengths were detected using a 532 nm pump beam and 0.69 MPa gas pressure. Using a sample wavelength of 567 nm and Michelson interferometry setup, the coherence length was measured to be 60 cm. Digital hologram recording and reconstruction using SRS rotational lines were successfully demonstrated.
