Intrinsic and extrinsic motivations of introductory Physics students
Abstract
A study on the motivation of introductory Physics students in studying Physics was studied during the 1st Semester of AY 2004-2005. The questionnaire prepared measured the intrinsic and extrinsic motivations of students in studying introductory physics. For items on Intrinsic motivation the 0.9164 and 0.9179 are the values of the Cronbach Alpha and Standardized Alpha, respectively. For items on Extrinsic Motivation the values for Cronbach alpha and standardized alpha were 0.7665 and 0.7808, respectively. The sensitivity is determined using the histograms which show near normalized distributions. Differences on populations on intrinsic and extrinsic motivation for males and females and the comparison for the two populations were determined using ANOVA. Results show that comparisons are not significantly different with each other.
