Improved homogeneity and growth quality of highly c-axis Bi-2212 superconducting films on single-crystalline MgO (100) substrates
Abstract
Growth quality of Bi-2212 films was investigated using XRD and SEM analysis. Three 0.85 grams of 2212 powder were placed in three 5 mL acetone filled beakers and were mixed to achieve maximum particle suspension. Three 5.0 mm by 5.0 mm MgO single-crystal substrates were introduced to the solution for deposition via sedimentation deposition technique. The solidification segment of the heat treatment profile designed for 2212 film growth was varied. The parameters used for the particular segment are: 10 hours for sample 1, hours for sample 2, and hours for sample 3. It has been shown in this work that longer solidification time leads to improved film growth quality.
