Abstract

The lacunarity of TEM Images of synthesized hybrid organosilica materials incorporating a biphenyl moiety was determined in this stud. When the samples were visually inspected, the degree of clumping of the samples correlates with the lacunarity measured. Heat treatment of samples was found out to be desirable in decreasing the lacunarity (and thus the heterogeneity) of a sample, and therefore increasing the surface area available for catalysis.
