Abstract

Generation of Stokes lines by stimulated Raman scattering in a multi-mode optical fiber pumped with a Q-switched Nd:YAG laser at 532 nm is investigated. The formation of each Stokes line was monitored by increasing the excitation power. The threshold energy required to generate these lines was determined. The dependence of the threshold energy on the interaction length is shown. For an excitation power of 12.08 mW, a maximum of six Stokes lines spanning the spectral range 544.8 nm to 619.1 nm were obtained for a 65.05 m fiber.
