Abstract

This talk mainly focuses on an optical engineering point-of-view or, more specifically, presents a compilation of several novel or next-generation optical manipulation systems that have been developed at the Programmable Phase Optics (PPO; www.ppo.dk) group in the Optics and Plasma Research Department of Risø National Laboratory. A common denominator to all these systems is the utility of the functionalities brought about by a device known as spatial light modulator (SLM). These innovative instrumentations offer advanced features not available from conventional single-beam optical tweezers system.
