Abstract

Logic controllers used in the design of electronic instruments consist of a combination of logic circuits usually implemented on breadboard or printed circuit boards using a number of logic integrated circuits. Due to the complexity of the controller being implemented, a large number of ICs are used.
A better way of implementing logic controllers is to use programmable logic devices (PLD) which could be programmed through logic diagrams and VHIC Hardware Definition Language (VHDL).
This paper describes the design of a training system which could be used to teach programming of PLD using schematic diagrams and VHDL.
