Optimal light throughput in multi-foci patterns produced via phase-only computer-generated holograms
Abstract
We analyze the diffraction efficiency of multi-foci patterns produced from a single phase-encoded Gaussian beam. Multi-foci patterns are formed at the focus of a lens from an incident TEM00 beam encoded with the appropriate phase-only computer generated hologram (CGH). The CGH is derived using the Gerchberg-Saxton algorithm optimized with respect to practical phase-encoding constraints. Our numerical results show theoretical limitations and optimal conditions on the diffraction efficiency of multiple foci due to practical operating parameters and coupled effects from various phase-encoding constraints, such as fill factor, phase and space quantization.
