Abstract

Optical structures with a linearly increasing non-integer topological charge were investigated. These beams have a nonseparable radial and azimuthal index and are classified as a mixed screw and edge dislocation. Generation of such beams with ℓ = 1, 2 and 3 for K = 0 and K = 1 was accomplished using a binary amplitude hologram, which was constructed using computer-generated holography. Image profiles and scaling properties of such beams were then investigated.
