Abstract

A study to determine students' misconceptions on electromagnetic (EM) waves was conducted. A questionnaire was prepared to determine the conception of students on wavelength-frequency and energyamplitude relations. Majority of the students consider wavelength and frequency as directly proportional to the velocity. Also, most of the students perceive that the energy of an EM wave is dependent on the amplitude of the wave and its brightness. The concept on these waves were directly associated with the equation by the students in which they tend to forget what are the constant and variables leading to a misconception.
