Modeling the intrinsic loss generation in high Tc superconductors at low applied AC fields
Abstract
A mathematical model based on the eddy currents and the temperature dependence of the penetration describes the behavior of the intrinsic loss behavior of high Tc superconductors at low AC fields. The peaked behavior is modeled as a competition between the loss of resistance and loss of area for the eddy currents that are induced due to the harmonic applied field. In order to reproduce the known behavior of high Tc superconductors a saturating penetration depth was used instead of an asymptotic one.
