Effect of Interactive Lecture Demonstrations (ILDs) instruction on Ateneo de Manila University (AdMU) BS and AB Students
Abstract
A survey of pre and post data using the Sokoloff-Thornton Force and Motion Conceptual Evaluation (FMCE) test is reported for four Bachelor of Science (BS) classes and four Bachelor of Arts (AB) classes of the Ateneo de Manila University (AdMU). Improvement in Newtonian thinking is evaluated after intervention through Interactive Lecture Demonstrations (ILDs). The pre-ILD-instruction test reveals major misconceptions in kinematical and dynamical analysis ofmotion. The post-ILD-instruction test reveals a mean BS-gain <g>BS = 0.52 ± 0.13 (std dev), and a mean AB-gain <g>AB= 0.15 ± 0.12 (std dev).
