Study on the interaction of students' commonsense knowledge and Newtonian mechanics
Abstract
A questionnaire was designed to study the interaction of students' commonsense knowledge and Newtonian mechanics. Most of their answers were based on their commonsense knowledge about force and motion even if there was a formal lesson in mechanics. Also, from their answers, there were no clear distinction between the use of the concepts velocity and acceleration.
