Study on the attitude of introductory physics students
Abstract
A study that characterizes attitudes of introductory Physics students of UPLB was conducted during the 1st Semester of Academic Year (AY) 2002-2003. A questionnaire was prepared to determine the students' attitude towards physics. The reliability found using Cronbach Alpha is 0.9473. To characterize attitude of students in physics, means, and standard deviations were computed per course and the frequency distribution were fitted to Gaussian and normal curve. The attitudes of males are not significantly different from the attitudes of females for all introductory physics courses. The attitudes of the students per course are significantly different from each other at 0.05 significance level. There were weak correlations though significant (p < 0.05) between the weighted means of the physics attitude and final grades of the students.
