Abstract

Growth of a single-phase c-axis oriented 2212 film from a novel technique is reported. Previous attempts to synthesize similar results have proven to be difficult due to the complexities of the 2212 phase. By using a combined method of powder deposition using a suspension in acetone and growth via a partial melting technique the single-phase c-axis oriented 2212 film was achieved. The grown 2212 film showed a sharp superconducting transition at 87 K. SEM analyses indicate that the film is flat with a thickness of 7.5 μm.
