Textured Bi-Sr-Ca-Cu-O/Ag film synthesis by electrophoretic deposition
Abstract
Bi-Sr-Ca-Cu-O films were fabricated using the electrophoretic deposition process unto high purity silver substrates. The films were deposited at 400 V/cm with a deposition time of 20 and 30 seconds. Short sintering time of 1.5 hr at 830°C was needed to reduce film porosity and allow vacancy diffusion of the deposited grains. X-ray diffraction shows that the film is c-axis oriented with high relative intensity ratio between (001) and non-(001) peaks. Surface image analysis shows that reduction of crystallographic misorientation of the particles of the fabricated films has occurred, indicating grain alignment along the c plane. These c-axis orientation and grain alignment indicate texturing of the deposited films.
