Abstract

The saturated hydraulic conductivity of Lipa clayey loam soil was studied. Six pairs of core samples were saturated with varying concentrations of Ca(OH)2 for two days, after which the exchangeable calcium content of one sample from each pair was determined by the ammonium acetate extraction method. The saturated hydraulic conductivities of the other six samples were determined using a constant head permeameter. The saturated hydraulic conductivity of each pair was plotted against the corresponding exchangeable calcium content. Results obtained showed that the saturated hydraulic conductivity of Lipa clayey loam decreased little with increasing exchangeable calcium content.
