Abstract

After the great success of ultrashort pulse generation with Ti:sapphire lasers in 1990s, there are still new unexplored wavelength regions in deep u;traviolet and far infrared (THz-radiation), where the existing short pulse laser systems are not good enough. We are making efforts to construct new ultrashort pulse laser systems with new laser media such as Ce:LiCAF and nonlinear crystals such as Li21B4O7 in ultraviolet region. Furthermore, in far infrared or THz-radiation region, we have found a new scheme to enhance the radiation intensity of nearly mono-cycle far infrared pulses by applying magnetic field to the InAs emitter irradiated with ultrashort optical pulse in near infrared region.
