Abstract

A PC-based detection system using ultrasonic technique was designed and developed for determining the stage decay of Mollucan Sau (Albizia falcataria). Using the through-transmission instrument set-up, correlations of ultrasonic wave amplitude to moisture content and weight loss due to decay of the wood were determined. The wave amplitude was measured using a peak-detector connected to an amplifier circuit and interfaced in a microcomputer using a data acquisition card (DAC) for faster collection of data and analysis.
