Abstract

Nematic E7 liquid crystal, doped with 0.2% weight percentage canola-based cholesteryl ester (CANCE), is sandwiched between two ITO-coated glass plates with perpendicular rubbing directions. The voltage holding ratio (VHR) characteristics of the Twisted Nematic E7 liquid crystal (TNLC) cell and CANCEdoped TNLC-E7 cell are determined. CANCE provided supplementary resistance and capacitance (RC) for the CANCE-doped TNLC-E7 cell, which increased the VHR by 29.539%, compared to the VHR of the TNLC-E7 cell.
