Investigation of the hysteresis loss peak in the temperature dependence of the AC magnetic susceptibility of MgB2
Abstract
Bulk MgB2 was investigated via AC magnetic susceptibility measurements in a mutual inductance bridge. The in-phase susceptibility shows a scaling which proves that the Meissner transition of MgB2 is characterized by a single curve. The out-of-phase susceptibility shows a single peak near TC, identified as due to hysteresis. The hysteresis loss peak position is independent of field and frequency. The imaginary susceptibility peak height increases with both increasing applied magnetic field and frequency.
