Critical micelle concentration and cluster size distribution in a binary lyotropic liquid crystal system
Abstract
A system composed of polymer like amphiphiles in a polar solvent is studied using Monte Carlo simulations on a two dimensional lattice with periodic boundary conditions. The onset of micellization is identified at different temperatures for increasing tail length. Results show that micellization occurs at lower concentration for low temperature systems. Also, the cluster size distribution show an exponentially decreasing probability for the occurrence of large micelles.
