Abstract

Effects of different surface alignments in the configurational transitions of textures of cholesteric mixture TM74A and E48 (60:40 wt. ratio) are presented. The cholesteric liquid crystal of homogeneous and random tangential alignments exhibited similar textural behavior with varying electric field, while the samples using homeotropic alignment showed a different textural behavior. Our results aim to contribute to the understanding of surface interactions in soft matter.
