Abstract

The pollution patterns due to discharges from a marine outfall in the coastal waters of Southern Lingayen Gulf are studied. The variations of these patterns corresponding to different prevailing winds are obtained by using a mathematical model of the Gulf. The model equations are based on the hydrodynamical equations. Simulations using the model show that the pollution patterns are highly dependent on the prevailing wind. Winds blowing from south to north result in the highest pollutant concentrations near the shorelines. On the other hand, winds blowing from north to south result in low concentrations in the same area.
