Modeling Physics
Abstract
"Modeling Physics" is a teaching method. It is not necessarily new or different content. Historically, Dr. David Hestenes and Prof. Malcom Wells developed it over the last 10 years at Arizona State University, for the introductory general physics course.
"Modeling Physics" uses the Constructivist approach and relies heavily on the student discovering his/her own pre-concepts, confronting them with experiments and then constructing their own new or revised (and hopefully correct) physics concepts or mental models.
