Abstract

In this paper, we analyze Peierls instability by the method of path integration, but first we rewrite the model Hamiltonian in the slave-boson formulation. From the spinon-dominated Hamiltonian, the Peierls instability relation was derived. The partition function as a Euclidean path integral over the spinon field was constructed, and from the path integral measure, a statistics transmutation phase relation was deduced. The energy spectrum was then obtained from the partition function.
