Mie scattering lidar for Philippine tropospheric and lower stratospheric studies
Abstract
LIDAR, an acronym for Light Detection and Ranging, is an active remote sensing technique which employs a laser and the radar principle to obtain range-resolved measurements. This paper aims to describe the first Mie scattering Nd:YAG lidar system in the Philippines being developed at the Ateneo de Manila University. The system operating at 532 nm is capable of detecting and ranging the presence of suspended particulates and aerosols in the troposphere and lower stratosphere.
