Abstract

The phase diagram of the pseudobinary system of Bi2Sr2CaCu2O8+y and KCl was constructed utilizing the Differential Thermal Analysis (DTA) technique in order to determine congruently the melting composition and concentration and temperature intervals for the optimum growth of epitaxial layers from high temperature solutions. Reactions indicating the formation of the Bi 2212 phase were also identified. The formation and transition of metastable phases, the delay of nucleation and/or growth of the Bi-based crystals will also be analyzed.
