Abstract

This paper describes a proposed high performance, yet affordable, computing system targeted for numerically intensive calculations. The distributed MIMD system will allow multiple processes to perform in parallel. The system will implement a hybrid of a crossbar and a hypercube network, that will permit ease of expansion up to 2048 processors.. The individual processing elements will consist of Reduced Instruction Set Computers (RISC) designed to reduce the high memory bandwidth requirements of traditional RISC designs.
