Abstract

Optical fibers are widely used today particularly in the field of optical communication. It offers advantages like increased bandwidth, immunity to electromagnetic interference, reduced attenuation per kilometer and less bulky system compared to its copper counterpart.

This paper describes a simple optical fiber link between two personal computers. Such a link has been designed to be able to understand how a basic optical communication system and its elements work.
