Discrete time quantum theory
Abstract
It has frequently been suggested that a proper description of particle dynamics requires explicit recognition of an absolute lower limit to the precision with which a coordinate (or time) may be measured. Accepting the concept of a discrete mechanics should not be regarded as settling for approximations no matter how close they may be to the continuum results; rather by asserting a discrete version of quantum mechanics we are obliged to regard continuum quantum mechanics derived from the discrete version as an approximation.
