Photomultiplier tube response at various dynode biasing schemes
Abstract
A positive voltage ramp with a maximum value of 180 volts is applied to selected even-numbered dynodes while a constant voltage supply is applied between the photocathode and the last dynode of a Hamamatsu R2063 photomultiplier tube. The output current is measured for various constant voltage supply ratios along the dynode chain. It is observed that the output current pulse width is significantly small at some voltage ratios. This result suggests a possible pulsing circuit for the photomultiplier tube.
