Abstract

The signal recovery capability of a newly-designed single channel AD converter is presented. The AD converter features a single bipolar comparator (LM311, differential input voltage = ±5V), synchronous 8-bit up/down counter and an 80KHz sinusoid base signal. An initial crossing location accuracy of 1 in 256 is achieved within the Nyquist interval. The converter is constructed using discrete TTL components. The measured signal is reconstructed by inverse transforming the Fourier coefficients from the measured zero crossings computed using Newton's formula.
