High-temperature superconductors – A new class of materials
Abstract
High Tc cuprates are urging us to construct a new way to describe the dynamics of electrons in solids. This is because the high Tc superconductivity is observed in the vicinity of the metal-insulator transition, which can not be described by the band theory: the basic theory of electrons in solids supporting the present semiconductor technology. The talk will first extract important experimental features ofthose fascinating materials and next introduce theoretical approaches so far developed based on new concepts.
