Preface

Abstract

The International Conference on Physics and Technology in the 1990's, organized by the Samahang Pisika ng Pilipinas (Physics Society of the Philippines), was held on 1-4 December 1992 at the University of the Philippines (UP) Diliman, Quezon City. The conference had some interesting features: (a) it was the first of its kind conducted in the Phil­ippines, covering new developments in different areas of physics, ap­plied physics and technology, with discussions on current trends toward technologies of the future and their impact on the ASEAN region; and (b) it was held simultaneously, in the same venue, with the International Conference on Physics for Development organized by the UP Institute for Science & Mathematics Education Development. Physics teachers and researchers, therefore, had ample opportunity to interact and dis­cuss each other's activities.
