Abstract

I will discuss our recent progress in the field of non-equilibrium physics with light and matter. I will present recent results on quantum-dot circuit QED systems, Hamiltonian and bath engineering of cavity-QED systems, realization of giant photon amplification and generation of long-lived entangled states of matter. These results are important both from a fundamental perspective and from the point of view of device applications (such as quantum diodes and rectifiers, photon amplifiers, lasers).

Manas Kulkarni, International Centre for Theoretical Sciences, Tata Institute of Fundamental Research

Manas Kulkarni is a Faculty Reader at the International Centre for Theoretical Sciences at the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (ICTS-TIFR) with research interests in non-equilibrium light-matter interactions, mesoscopic quantum optics, hybrid circuit-QED systems, integrable models, and nonlinear hydrodynamics. He was previously a faculty member at the City University of New York from 2014 to 2016. He has held post-doctoral positions at the Department of Electrical Engineering of Princeton University and at the Department of Chemistry of the University of Toronto. He obtained his PhD degree from the State University of New York at Stony Brook in 2011, where he also worked closely with Brookhaven National Laboratory.
