Digital micromirror device as an amplitude-type diffuser for phase retrieval
Abstract
In single beam multiple intensity reconstruction (SBMIR) phase retrieval method, increasing the axial diversity between intensity recordings allows an enhanced reconstruction of smooth object wavefronts. In this study, we demonstrate that a digital micromirror device can be used as an amplitude mask creating intensity variation required for phase retrieval. The scattering due to the DMD, results in significant intensity variation, which allows the recovery of the object phase information. The DMD-based technique offers programmable, convenient and low-cost amplitude diffuser for a non-stagnating iterative phase retrieval.
