Optical reflectivity of synthesized anodic aluminum oxide enhanced via silver deposition
Abstract
Anodic aluminum oxide was synthesized using 92% purity aluminum foil electrochemically etched in an oxalic acid solution. The samples were subjected to an anodization voltage of 40V at different etching times to vary the effective thicknesses. Phosphoric acid was used as the pore widening agent for 20, 40 and 60 minutes to vary the average pore sizes of the oxide. The synthesized anodic aluminum oxide was deposited with 90Ã… thick silver through resistive evaporation. Results show that the optical reflectivity of the sample was enhanced when subjected to metal deposition.
