Study of survival probability of hydrogen negative leaving a Cs covered metal surface
Abstract
In surface-conversion-type negative hydrogen ion sources, H- ions are formed at a low work function complex metal surface. The production rate can be expressed as the product of backscattering rate, a negative ion formation probability, and a survival probability. Triggered by the recent progress of theoretical works on a complex metal surface, we have looked again and reconsidered the theory of a negative ion formation probability, and a survival probability. Formalism to include the density of states is given.
