Abstract

The spot size a focused helium neon laser oriented at an angle with respect to the optical axis of a focusing lens has been determined using scanning optical fiber - power meter system. The spot size was measured by obtaining the laser beam waists at planes located at some distance after the lens. Using the laser beam waists, we simulated the beam profile for a focused laser beam tilted at an angle. The obtained data shows promising potential of the optical fiber - power meter system in determining the spot size of a focused high - powered laser beam.
