Scattering of massless scalar field by a wormhole background
Abstract
We study the scattering of a massless, Klein-Gordon plane wave by an ultrastatic Morris-Thorne wormhole with a very short throat, via partial wave analysis. Exact expressions for the scattering phase shifts, which are necessary in computing the scattering amplitude and the differential scattering cross section, were obtained and turned out to be complex-valued. This is an indication that the incident wave is partially scattered by the wormhole, and a portion of the incident wave is transmitted through the wormhole throat. We also plot the differential scattering cross section as a function of the scattering angle for different incident energies.
