Abstract

This paper aims to investigate on how the velocity collimation of the protons is affected by capping off one end of a CNT. Coulomb explosion was simulated for a CNT with ice inside the CNT as a protons source using classical mechanics. Oscillating energy distributions were observed from the simulations and it was confirmed that the oscillators were due to the laser's influence. Finally, the simulations also show an increase in the velocity collimation of the protons along the positive z - axis for the capped CNT.
